Youth Classes have 5 week session- Basketball Skills (grade K-3), Dodgeball (grades K-6), Tiny Tots (ages 2-5years) will start their last 5 week session soon. Basketball starts April 10, Dodgeball April 26, and Tiny Tots (April 18). Call to register.

Sports Recycle Planned for April 4-12- Clean out your closets of gently used sport (cleats, balls, etc.) and fitness equipment (bikes, DVD, weights, etc.) and/or shop for low cost fitness and sport equipment.  Donated items are needed by Thurs. April 3 and sale hours will be Mon. through Sat. 8:30am-8pm, Sun. 1-5pm. Click for details!

Kids Fun Night Sat. May 3rd- Join (ages 5-12) in the fun and activity at BFR on Sat. May 3 from 6-11pm; click for more information.  Our spring event is held in conjunction with the Bluffton Reverse Raffle; giving those parents a child-friendly event while they are out for the evening.  Flashlight tag, team events, contests, pinata and food are all included for $30/$15BFR. Register by April 29.

New Fitness Class options: Zumba Fit (c) resumes on Saturday mornings- April 5, 12, 26, May 3, 10, 17, 24. Afternoon TBC (total body conditioning) has begun on Tuesday and Thursdays, 3:45-4:15pm.  Silver Sneakers(c) Classic will be offered on Tuesdays and Fridays 11-11:45AM. Classic is a great class for those older adults who are beginning to exercise or who have limitations to exercise.  Remember, first class at BFR is always FREE and you do not have to commit to just one class!

Fit4Life Support Group-  Looking for a way to lose weight or maintain a healthy body image?? This new Support Group meets twice monthly to discussion and active sessions, plus participants weigh-in weekly at BFR. Deb Hohenbrink and Amy Byers are the leaders of the program; both have extensive backgrounds in weight loss management. Cost is just $20/month (cheaper for BFR members and those who commit for a longer time period).

Train for Running this Spring- Improve Your Run, a 5 week group training program will help current runners improve speed and endurance. Improve your time at 5K races or train for longer competitions. Click for more details; there will be an early and later session offered. Walk to Run- an 8 week program will start in July and end prior to BFR's Labor Day Weekend 5K.

Recreational Options-  BFR offers Recreation Passes for use of the recreational facilities only. Rec Pass holders have access to the indoor track, gymnasium and arena (fitness center IS NOT included). Family Rec Pass is just $150 per year to cover the entire family.   An Individual Recreation Pass is available in quantities of 10 visits for $30.00

Track Pass Options- Come inside BFR to walk over the winter months with a track pass.  The track is accessible all building hours (some times are busier than others with indoor soccer traffic).

Coffee Walks on the 1st and 3rd Fridays October through March! Use the indoor track on these days for just $1 per person (included free with BFR membership, Track Pass and Family Rec Pass). Free coffee is provided!!!

Family Nights- During the winter months, BFR sponsors informal activities for families. Bring the entire family for group games, open recreation and activity stations for the young ones. Cost is $5 per family (Free for BFR members and Family Rec Pass holders).

Family Open Play- Drop in as you wish and give the young ones a chance to play.  Each Wednesday and Friday morning 11-12noon.  Just $1 per child each time you attend.

Drop in recreation is available for youth and adults.  Daily Use fee of $5 is required by all non-members. Posted hours for drop-in basketball and soccer are available by clicking on the schedule above. BFR does not offer a day pass for the Fitness Center; BFR members may bring guests into the fitness center, however.

Full Membership Benefits- BFR offers individual and family membership options to use the entire building for an affordable price.  The Fitness Center is a members-only area (for those 14 years and older). **BFR Winter Weather Policy-  If a Level 1 or 2 Snow Emergency is posted by Allen County, all BFR classes and programs will be cancelled (the building remains available for fitness center, track and recreational gym/arena use).  Team contacts will be called with league rescheduling information.  On the mornings with a Level 1 Emergency, the BFR building will open at 8AM and open at 10AM during Level 2.  BFR will be closed while under a Level 3 Snow Emergency.
 
**Summer Heat Advisory Policy At BFR
Outdoor youth programs will be cancelled (and rescheduled) in case of severe heat. The NOAA National Weather Heat Index will be used to determine these conditions and events cancelled when levels reach the dangerous or extremely dangerous levels.  Determinations of predicted hear index will be made by 4pm on the program day for evening events. Established in 1978, BFR is a private, non-profit organization serving the fitness and recreation needs of Bluffton, Ohio and surrounding communities.  BFR programs, leagues, and classes are open to both members and guests. Use of the fitness center, however, is restricted to BFR members over the age of 14 years.
 
2013-2014 Board of Directors: Deb Parkins (President), Mike Coffman (Vice-President), Bill Theisen (Treasurer), Trisha Nieman (Secretary), regular board members: Larry Armstrong, Gen Akroyd, Becky Avila, Cathy Kaus, Joe Duling,  Dan Settlage, Joel Taylor. Any concerns regarding the operations of BFR can be forwarded to the board of directors.
